Abstract

|
|
Ocular flutter is a type of saccadic oscillation that consists of back-to-back saccades without an inter-saccadic interval mostly in the horizontal plane. Opsoclonus, another type of multidirectional saccadic oscillation, could present with generalized myoclonus and/or ataxia, but ocular flutter is usually not associated with those symptoms. Ocular flutter occurs commonly in paraneoplastic syndrome, postinfectious state, and demyelinating diseases, in which the underlying etiology is thought to be an autoimmune mechanism. Here we report a 39-year-old man with ocular flutter of unknown etiology associated with myoclonus and ataxia who showed good responses to steroid.
